MOTOROLA ROLLING OUT ANDROID 5.0 “LOLLIPOP” TO MOTO X (2014) AND MOTO G (2014) – DETAILS

Update: Motorola has put up a posting on their blog, announcing the beginning of their Android Lollipop rollout for their new Moto X and Moto G. Currently the update is rolling out in phases to the following three versions of those devices:
Moto X (2nd Gen.) Pure Edition
Moto G (2nd Gen.) US GSM
Moto G (2nd Gen.) Global GSM retail versions sold in the US
Since these updates are rolling out in phases, it may take some time for Lollipop to make its way onto your Moto X or Moto G. Other manufacturers including HTC and LG have indicated they plan to release the latest version of Android in the coming weeks.

Date – 8 Nov. 2014
Motorola had posted the release notes for Lollipop on the 2014 Moto X yesterday, but they were immediately pulled down. Android 5.0 is currently rolling out to Moto X owners who signed up for the smartphone’s “soak test” and could see a wider release should they not report any glaring errors. The decision to pull down the pages describing the update could mean that Motorola jumped the gun, and will not officially roll out the software for a few days. The first Moto X model to receive Android 5.0 is Motorola’s unlocked “Pure Edition”.

• Moto Display and Ambient Display
• Motorola Assist and Downtime
• Flashlight
• Share your Device
• Pin a view/app

• Smarter Internet Connections
• Performance
• Smart Lock (Trusted Devices)
• Security
Earlier this week, Motorola was surveying prospective soak testers about a new update which was assumed to be Android 5.0 Lollipop. Motorola didn’t take to their usual forums to post their release notes detailing all the goodies you can expect when you update your Moto X (2014) to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Motorola has been faster than any other manufacturer, outside of Google’s Nexus program, to offer Android updates on its smartphones since it was owned by the search giant. Motorola, now owned by Lenovo, has continued to tinker with the operating system less than other manufacturers.
Google has delayed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. It will now roll out on November 12; exactly a week after it was initially meant to launch. Google has decided to delay the update in order to iron out some last minute bugs. Apparently there are a couple of necessary fixes required before the system is ready to be rolled out to older Nexus devices. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are the first to run Android Lollipop.
